I can remember as a child daydreaming about planting a field of wildflowers and running through them in full bloom. In hindsight, a career working with flowers was inevitable.
Laughing Bird Blooms is named after Baby, my Moluccan Cockatoo and Crash, my African Grey parrot. These two love to mimic people laughing and are always laughing. Though Laughing Bird Blooms was named after my Moluccan and African Grey, I have other birds that are dear to me as well. My velcro bird, Cricket a Senegal Parrot and Desi aka Toodle-Lou, a Goffin's Cockatoo. I have 7 birds total, all of which were adopted from a local rescue here in NE Ohio.
I have an eclectic background with a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from Kent State University and a Master's Degree in Special Education from The University of Akron. Through all of this, I have always been captivated by the beauty of flowers. Since owning a home, I have been able to explore flowering plants more and soon discovered my captivation with flowers was somewhat of an obsession. So, I decided to make a career move into floriculture and Laughing Bird Blooms was born.
As a flower farmer, I often get asked what my favorite flower is. It is the flower that made me decide to start my little flower farm. Not only is she a beautiful flower, most importantly, she was the motivation behind pursuing my dream: Cafe au Lait dahlia.
